Oh, MAN. Keeping up with Caitlyn Jenner is harder than keeping up with any of the Kardashians.
In a sneak preview of I am Cait season 2, Caitlyn is seen talking with friends saying, "To be honest, if I was in a relationship with a guy, I would enjoy being treated like that... opening doors for you, doing all that would think is the traditional stuff in a guy and a girl relationship."
This is an interesting turn of events. Caitlyn Jenner has been vocal about preferring women before and after her surgery. Not only that, but she's spoken out in the past against gay marriage. Even post-transition, her explanation of her views on The Ellen Show was convoluted.
"At first I was not for it. I'm a traditionalist," she said during an appearance in September. "I kind of like tradition, and it's always been a man and a woman. But as time has gone on, I think a lot of people on this issue have really changed their thinking here to, 'I don't ever want to stand in front of anybody's happiness,'" Jenner explained. "That's not my job, OK? If that word -- 'marriage' -- is really, really that important to you, I can go with it."
It seemed like a confusing explanation coming from someone who was asking the world for understanding and compassion, speaking to arguably the most famous gay woman in the world.
Caitlin later clarified her response, saying, "Like many people, there was a time when I didn’t realize how important it is for gay couples to have the right to get married. But after hearing from my gay friends and learning more about the hardships they faced because of discrimination, it became clear to me that everyone should be able to marry the person they love. I can only hope that by sharing my story, there’s someone out there whose mind has been changed about trans people."
There's been plenty of discussion on her show about whether dating women at this point make Caitlyn or lesbian. She hasn't been open about who she's dating yet, but surely, we'll be hearing more about her evolution, views, and preferences in the coming season.
