Chrissy Teigen & John Legend Slam Critics Over Choosing Baby's Sex
February 25, 2016
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have been open with the public about using in vitro fertilization to conceive - and about choosing their baby's gender.
Chrissy gushed about the happy news in an interview with People, saying "Not only am I having a girl, but I picked the girl from her little embryo. I picked her and was like, 'Let's put in the girl.'"
"I think I was most excited and allured by the fact that John would be the best father to a little girl. That excited me. It excited me to see … just the thought of seeing him with a little girl. I think he deserves a little girl. I think he deserves that bond."
But according to E! News, it didn't take long for the couple to face backlash over this decision. Chrissy followers on Twitter immediately started to post judgemental and accusatory tweets, like, ""What happens if u kid decides ‘she' wants 2 identify as ‘he'? Y is picking gender important unless u hope 2 enforce it?"
The 30-year old supermodel responded, saying, "What in the…she can do whatever she wants... People really reaching for outrage here."
She also tweeted, "Mentions. In. shambles. Lol. ‘what...what...what if....your GIRL wants to...be......chem trails.....and cis....and....vegan...and....other buzzwords...' stop looking HERE for s--t to be mad at. There are so many other things that deserve your outrage."
