In a recent interview, the football player turned reality star, and husband to Kendra Wilkinson, opened up about the cheating rumors that have plagued his family for more than a year.
"I messed up," a teary-eyed Baskett told People. "I put myself in a bad situation. And everything through me brought pain upon this family."
That pain started in April 2014 when Hank took down the number of a pair of women, who both happened to be transgendered, he saw smoking pot in a grocery store parking lot. He wanted to buy some from them and ended up in one of their homes.
Baskett continues his story with a trip to the bathroom, only to emerge and see something he thought he "would never see" in his life.
The two women were allegedly naked and kissing one another. And even though he "froze," one of the women still managed to fondle him through his basketball shorts.
"I didn't engage in anything," he says. "It was like a bank robbery. You never know when you'll freeze. I don't know if it was a couple of seconds or 15 seconds, because all I was saying was get out, get out, get out."
Rumors of the encounter started swirling online two months thereafter, coinciding with the 8th month of Kendra's second pregnancy.
And even though the self-proclaimed alpha male admitted that the entire situation left him unable to "protect himself," he and Kendra proceeded to flirt with the specific details on various reality shows - including Kendra on Top and Marriage Bootcamp.
It seems, though, that Playboy's former girl next door took sympathy on her husband once the rage wore off.
"Hank was very naïve and gullible," she says. "He thinks everybody is his friend. That led him to the hell that we've lived."
