Sherri Shepherd Ordered to Pay Child Support For Surrogate Son

By Johnny Lopez

Sherri Shepherd's attempts to relinquish all parental obligations for her 15-month-old surrogate son just got shot down by a Pennsylvania judge.

According to People, the former View host lost her fight to have her name removed from the child's birth certificate and must continue to pay her ex-husband child support.

The ruling upholds a lower court's decision which said Sherri was the legal mother of the surrogate child, which she and ex Lamar Sally agreed to have prior to splitting in May 2014.

While none of Sherri's DNA was used in the process - the former couple used a donor egg and had a surrogate carry the pregnancy - Lamar Jr. was born three months later.

Her ex-husband has been caring for the 15-month-old boy and will continue to receive $4300 a month until their son turns 13, reported TMZ. Sherri will then up the payments to $4600 until Lamar Jr. turns 18.

The 48-year-old has been very vocal about her contentious battle with Sally over financial responsibility of their child.

"I am appealing the ruling that happened and he gets his settlement every month," the former 30 Rock actress said of her ex-husband in August.  "He's happy. There nothing I can do. It's out of my hands. You move on and I have a son. I have to take care of him so everything is good."

Despite the custody battle, Shepherd is also the biological mother of a ten-year-old son, Jeffrey, from her previous marriage to Jeffrey Tarpley.

For the record, she has no qualms with being Jeffrey's mother or providing for him.
