Vanessa Hudgens & Austin Butler's Valentine's Vacation Ignites Criminal Investigation

All's fair in love and war - except when it's illegal.

That's a lesson that Vanessa Hudgens and boyfriend Austin Butler are learning the hard way after a seemingly innocent act of love went awry.

The two spent Valentine's Day weekend vacationing at Coconino National Forest, and throughout the weekend, Vanessa posted pics to Instagram of their romantic adventures. One of these snaps - which has since been removed according to E! News - was of the pair's name in a heart carved into a rock.

According to TMZ, a federal law prohibits "damaging natural surfaces or property of the United States."

E! News reports that because it's an ongoing investigation - no charges have been filed at this time. But if they are - the couple could face six months in jail or a fine of up to $5000.

Besides the whole "possibility of jail" thing though, it looked like a pretty romantic getaway for the couple!
