Emma Stone & Andrew Garfield

Emma Stone & Andrew Garfield

Jun 2011 - Oct 2015

Prior to beginning their current real-life romance, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were first cast to play love interests Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy in the superhero reboot of The Amazing Spider-Man.

Within months of starting production, it was revealed that Emma had split from her boyfriend and Paper Man co-star Kieran Culkin in April 2011.

The next month, Andrew quickly followed suit by also breaking up with his girlfriend of three years, actress Shannon Woodward.

Once filming on Spider-Man wrapped, the two actors reconnected at the MTV Movie Awards on June 5th, 2011 and quickly ignited rumors that they were more than just friendly co-stars.

Throughout the summer, the pair was spotted out in public together on multiple occasions, which only helped to further flame the romance speculation.

Their relationship seemed to be unofficially confirmed as Andrew made a surprise appearance during Emma’s opening monologue as she hosted Saturday Night Live on November 12, 2011.

After spending the holidays together, the young couple unabashedly ushered in the New Year with a declaration of their love and shared a passionate kiss on the streets of New York City in January 2012.

With promotion for their upcoming film kicking into high gear, the lovebirds continued to take center stage and made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2012 Kids Choice Awards on March 31.

Just over three months later, on July 3, 2012, The Amazing Spider-Man premiered to resounding success and went on to earn $757 million worldwide.

Now with the huge hit under their belts, Emma and Andrew’s amorous union continued to bloom as they went on to film the comic book blockbuster’s sequel in early 2013.

While normally accustomed to keeping their private life private even after dating for nearly three years, the actress broke her silence and publicly professed her true feelings for Andrew during an interview on Good Morning America in April 2014. “He’s obviously one of the greatest actors I think we have alive today, and he’s also just a remarkable human being, so I love him very much,” she said blushingly.

With their intense chemistry evident on and off screen, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opened on May 2, 2014 and made over $91 million its opening weekend. Despite earning over $700 million worldwide, the Sony film wound up being the lowest grossing of the five productions in the franchise.

In April 2015, it was revealed Emma and Andrew had taken a break from their relationship due to their “busy schedules.” But within weeks, the pair were spotted back together and holding hands. Hallelujah!
