Johnny Depp-Amber Heard

Johnny Depp & Amber Heard

2012 - current

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard met on the set of their film The Rum Diary in March 2009. At the time, Depp was still in a relationship with the mother of his two children, French actress Vanessa Paradis. She and Depp separated publicly three years later, on June 19th, 2012. Although gossip surrounded the former costars mere days after Depp’s split from Paradis, the early days of Johnny and Amber’s romance managed to fly mostly under the radar.

That trend continued for the next year or so, until Heard’s non-denial in a July 2013 cover story confirmed her relationship with Johnny. The signal went dark again for another few months, though, only coming back to light when Johnny and Amber were spotted having a date night in London that October. It turned out that the former costars were filming their second joint project, the yet-to-be-released London Fields.

News of their engagement broke on January 17th, 2014, following Amber’s futile attempts at hiding a massive diamond she’d been spotted wearing in public.

Almost a year passed by without so much as a peep from the couple, fueling rumors in December 2014 that they’d either split or severely slowed down the planning of their impending nuptials. Those whispers turned out to be false, as it was revealed in late January 2015 that Johnny and Amber had made plans to wed on Depp’s private, Bahamian island in February 2015.

And although Johnny and Amber were legally married on February 3rd, 2015, in a private, civil ceremony at their Los Angeles home, they kept true to reports and said “I do” with their feet in the sand the following weekend, on February 9th, 2015.
